Susan Shillinglaw is a Professor of English at San Jose State University, where she received the SJSU President’s Scholar Award for 2012-13. Shillinglaw is also Scholar in Residence at the National Steinbeck Center in Salinas, CA.
For eighteen years, Professor Shillinglaw was Director of the Center for Steinbeck Studies at San Jose State University.
She has published widely on Steinbeck, most recently Carol and John: Portrait of a Marriage (2013), On Reading The Grapes of Wrath (2014), and A Journey into Steinbeck’s California (2006, 2011).
